CMS has issued a contract to perform Medicare Audit Desk Review and IRIS Duplicates (MADRID) to Myers and Stauffer.
On July 27, 2023, Myers and Stauffer emailed providers instructions for the duplicate resolution process as it is currently reviewing cost reports ending in federal fiscal year (FFY) 2017. Providers will need to complete a registration form with their computer’s IP address to access the portal which contains the provider’s overlap report. Please note that these emails were sent to your contact listed in the CMS STAR System from IRISDuplicates@mslc.com. If you did not receive a notification, confirm your CMS Star contact is current and that the email did not go to your spam folder. The intent is by the end of calendar year 2023, all duplicates related to cost reporting periods ending FFY 2017 (October 1, 2016–September 30, 2017) will be resolved. Intended dates for resolution of subsequent cost report years are as follows:
- FFY 2018 & 2019 – Completed during calendar year 2024
- FFY 2020 & 2021 – Completed during calendar year 2025
- FFY 2022 & 2023 – Completed during calendar year 2026
- FFY 2024 & 2025 – Completed during calendar year 2027
If you received the Myers and Stauffer notification, your provider was identified as potentially having full-time equivalent overlap duplicates with other providers. All requested documentation must be provided to Myers and Stauffer by August 28, 2023, which is 30 calendar days from the date of notification via the portal. Please respond accordingly to avoid the duplicate interns and residents from being adjusted off the cost report, which could potentially impact reimbursement. CMS will issue re-opening letters for all impacted cost reports that have been final settled.
