As more instances of Salesforce get the latest release updates, here are four new Salesforce Winter ’23 features your organization can start using. Explore how each can help you save time, stay organized, and collaborate more.

Track & Sort Your Tasks with the To Do List

With this Winter ’23 upgrade, you can add a “To Do List” to the Utility Bar. Then you can see, sort, and organize all your assigned tasks in a single, easy-to-use view. You even can apply labels to tasks in the To Do List to customize how you organize and prioritize them. Sales Engagement users also can see tasks from cadences.

To enable this feature, have your Salesforce admin or consultant go to the App Manager and add the To Do List to the Utility Bar for users.

Create Custom Address Fields

You can improve address data accuracy with custom address fields. For example, you now can add a Warehouse Address field to a standard or custom object. The custom address field was released in Summer ’22 as a Beta feature but now will be generally available in Winter ’23.

A custom address field functions in the same manner as a standard address field. You can populate a custom address field manually or use the Google lookup to search for an address.1 Once the requirements outlined in the note below are met, the field type will be available when creating a new field for an object.

Note: First, review Custom Address Fields Requirements and Limitations documentation. Custom address fields use the State and Country picklists. By default, all countries, territories, and their states and provinces are visible to users. To specify the available picklist values in Salesforce, configure State and Country/Territory Picklists before you enable custom address fields.

To enable this feature, have your Salesforce admin or consulting professional go to Setup > User Interface – then check the box to “Use custom address fields.” Once enabled, custom address fields cannot be deactivated.

Get the Sales Cloud for Slack App

If your sales team uses Slack and Salesforce together, you may want to check out the Sales Cloud for Slack app. This Winter ’23 update will be generally available and it enables your sales team to host spontaneous discussions and live working sessions directly in Slack. In addition, users can:

  • See, update, and share accounts, contacts, leads, and opportunities
  • See and manage their sales pipeline
  • Get reminders in Slack about upcoming close dates, unchanged stages, and unchanged next steps for the Opportunities they own
  • Drive discussions on key Opportunities using sales channels and get notifications in Slack when records are updated
  • Use Flow Builder to initiate Slack actions such as creating new Slack channels when new Opportunities above a certain dollar amount are created

Clone Lightning Apps

Your favorite custom Lightning apps now can be cloned to create new apps in the App Manager. This is a Winter ’23 Beta feature that your Salesforce admin or consulting professional can enable in the App Manager under Setup. Once enabled, the dropdown action menu on the far right will offer “Clone” as an option.

This feature is likely to be a time saver for admins!
