CMS initially issued the Medicare hospice final rule (CMS-1851-F) in August 2026, which included a 2.3% ($755 million) estimated net increase to fiscal year (FY) 2027 payments, compared to a 2.6% hike in FY 2026 payments. CMS then issued a corrected rule (CMS-1851-CN) in September 2026 to correct technical errors in the August 2026 final rule.
The corrected increase will be applied to payment for the four hospice levels of care, including routine home care, continuous home care, general inpatient care, and inpatient respite care. Forvis Mazars has made the 2027 hospice payment rates available by state. The hospice aggregate cap also will be adjusted up by 2.3% and will be set at $36,175 for FY 2027.
