Forvis Mazars LLP, one of the largest public accounting and consulting firms in the United States, is pleased to announce the addition of Garrett Gluth as a managing director with the Healthcare Practice.
In his new role with the firm, Gluth will focus on tax and compliance issues for nonprofit healthcare clients across the country. As a CPA and attorney, Gluth brings extensive tax experience to the position, following 16 years of working at the IRS, where he held multiple senior executive roles and was tasked with navigating key legal, financial and regulatory matters. During his time with the IRS, Gluth helped draft regulations and implement tax laws for nonprofit organizations, redesigned Form 990 hospital reporting, and led large, complex tax compliance programs.
Gluth is a nationally recognized authority on tax‑exempt healthcare organizations. He helped author Section 501(r), significant statutory requirements that must be met by all tax-exempt hospital organizations. At the IRS, he also led implementation of complex tax provisions, including provisions related to Opportunity Zones, Digital Assets, Clean Energy, Excise Taxes, Credits, and Deductions.
“We are thrilled to add Garrett to our team,” said Brad Brotherton, national sector leader for the Healthcare Practice at Forvis Mazars. “His firsthand experience shaping Section 501(r) and federal tax policy brings immediate value and distinct advantage to our clients as they navigate increasing regulatory scrutiny and complexity. Garrett brings a rare combination of technical depth and practical insight that will help healthcare organizations strengthen compliance, mitigate risk, and clearly demonstrate their community impact. His addition further strengthens our ability to deliver integrated, forward-looking solutions to healthcare organizations nationwide.
Gluth joins a growing practice that serves thousands of clients nationwide, and is the No. 1 nonprofit healthcare tax preparer in the country, according to Form 990 data in Cause IQ.
“Forvis Mazars is widely known and respected for the level of service it provides to its healthcare and hospital clients,” Gluth said. “I am proud to join my new colleagues in upholding that high standard and I’m excited about what the future holds for the team and for our clients.”
Gluth holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Virginia, a Juris Doctor degree from the George Mason University School of Law, and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center.
