HOUSTON – Forvis Mazars has appointed Managing Director Coleman Rowland as the new leader of its national energy and natural resources (ENR) practice. Rowland succeeds Brian Matlock in the role, following Matlock’s appointment as managing partner of the firm’s newly opened South Florida office.
Based in Houston, Rowland has more than 30 years of experience in the upstream, midstream, downstream, oil field service, power, and utilities sectors. He joined Forvis Mazars in 2020 and was previously the national consulting leader for the ENR practice.
“I’m proud to assume the role of ENR industry leader for Forvis Mazars,” Rowland said. “It’s an exciting time to be working in the energy and natural resources industry, and Forvis Mazars is well positioned to support our ENR clients as they navigate opportunities and challenges ahead of them.”
Prior to joining Forvis Mazars, Rowland spent 23 years with the risk advisory and consulting practices of a large international firm. Before that, he spent seven years at Shell Oil Company in the upstream and midstream accounting and finance groups.
“Coleman has a lot of passion and energy for the industry and brings a wealth of knowledge to this role,” said Matt Wood, partner and national industry leader for the firm’s Commercial Products Practice. “We’re excited about the future growth opportunities for our ENR practice with him leading the way.”
Rowland is a graduate of Texas A&M University, with a B.B.A in accounting and management information systems. He also holds a M.B.A. in finance from the University of Houston.
