We’re proud to share that Tom Tollerton, principal and leader of CMMC services at Forvis Mazars, has been appointed vice chair of the newly formed C3PAO Advisory Council by the Cyber AB. Tom will serve a two-year term, helping shape the future of cybersecurity assessments across the defense industrial base.
“I’m extremely honored to be selected by the Cyber AB to serve on its inaugural C3PAO Advisory Council,” said Tom. “As the CMMC program becomes fully ingrained in the DoD supply chain, there is important work to be done in identifying clear and consistent guidance for the C3PAO community and wider defense industrial base.”
What the Council Will Do
The Cyber AB will rely on the council for strategic advice and feedback as it fulfills its role as an accreditation body under the ISO/IEC 17011 (2017) standard. The Council will initially consider and offer recommendations for:
- assessment guidance and methodologies
- inclusion and requirements for impacted external service providers (ESPs)
- use and deployment of emerging technologies
Cyber AB CEO Matthew Travis praised the group, stating:
“Such an esteemed group of C3PAO leaders agreed to take on this additional responsibility for the benefit of the CMMC Program. We are looking forward to receiving their wise counsel on a wide range of CMMC issues.”
Council Composition
Tom joins 10 other CMMC representatives and Certified Third-Party Assessment Organization (C3PAO) leaders on the council. While the council will not set policy or make decisions, its members will serve in a noncompensatory capacity and hold no special standing with the Cyber AB or the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).
